Through all of your hard work it's finally time to celebrate (and dance so free, one more time!).

Warnings:
The Float doesn't happen on it's own. In order to obtain these results you must be able to stay focused and work hard towards your goal. It may not come easy, but with dedication it will come. This card can also be a signifier of hope when you need it.

Example:

I just met someone and we seem perfect for each other. We started seeing each other although I live away from home for school. Do you think the relationship will work out although we are 70 miles apart?

Initially The Float suggest yes, that the relationship will work out. However it requires dedication from both parties. If both of you want the best out of the relationship and are willing to work for it then the relationship will work out despite the distance factor.

Temporary Hiatus

I'm going to be away for the next few days. Perhaps these changes are a catalyst for something new. The Firey's advice for a situation like this is to hold your head up and don't let the negativities burn you out (pun intended). It will only consume you if you allow it to do so.

Warnings:
It's common knowledge that fire can spread. Fast. If you allow the negativities to consume you, it will spread. It will start affecting you in different areas of your life and it may spread to those who care about you. The best way to prevent a fire like this from spreading is to put it out early. If The Firey is a card in a spread, the other cards can be interpreted on how to put the fire out.

Example:

I recently made a new friend. Everything started out well until their attitude changed from being nice and friendly to "my life is so much harder than your's." I've tried talking to them about it, but nothing seems to have gotten across. What should I do?

First off, you should ask yourself what qualifies them as a friend? The Firey suggests that if you continue on with this type of relationship, they will keep bringing you down. If you've tried talking to them about it yet they continue to exhibit this type of behavior, perhaps it's best just to move on. Some people cannot be changed. Ultimately it is your choice, but if you choose to stay friends make sure you have your guard up and prepare for unexpected surprises.

Counterfeit And Unofficial Decks

The easiest place to find Clow Cards are on Ebay because they are out of production and hard to find. But you should keep in mind that you may run across counterfeit or unofficial decks. If you want the Clow Cards just for casual reading, then an unoffical deck may be suitable (they are usually much more affordable then the official decks). However if you are a collector or a CCS fan, then be on the lookout.

To my knowledge, there are 2 officially released sets, the American version by Bandai and the Japanese version by Kodansha, with the American being easier to find. Both come with a Clow book to store the cards. The Japanese version look like the clow cards pictured on this blog (light orange border, purple background). The American version have a slightly different color scheme (orange/yellow blended border, dark gold background). The Japanese version is also more detailed than the American version when it comes to the back of the cards and the Clow Book.

There is also an Japanese electronic Sakura Card set, I don't know who the maker is however.

EDIT: There are 5 officially released decks:

1. American Clow Card Set by Bandai

2. Japanese Clow Card Set by Bandai

3. Deluxe Clow Card Set by Kodansha

4. Electronic Sakura Card Set by Bandai

5. Sakura Card Pouch Set by Bandai (this is the one based on the 2nd movie and includes The Hope card.)
Thanks, Vanessah!

Unofficial decks generally have off-color or a mix-matched color scheme and usually do not come with a Clow Book, they are packaged in a cardboard box instead. These unofficial decks are commonly found on ebay with a very low buy-it-now price (usually under $10.00) along side (or instead of) the starting price.

So what does this all mean? It means that there are decks that were not produced as official Cardcaptor Sakura merchandise. It doesn't mean that they are unusable or poor quality, they are just not official, some may say that they are fakes. It's like the big bags of generic "fruit loops" versus the Fruit Loops brand cereal by Kellogg's.

You should decide based on your own feelings which cards to buy. It is up to you to choose. If you are comfortable with an unofficial deck, then that's fine too.

NOTE: This information is based of the best of my knowledge, if you have something further to clarify please don't hesitate to let me know so that I can make the proper revisions.

The Fight

Keywords:

Courage, strength, fortitude, standing up for what you believe in.

Tarot Card Coordinate: Seven of Wands

Advice:

When faced with adversity, The Fight wants you to stand firm to what you believe in. If you expect people to respect you, you must learn to respect them too, even if your viewpoints differ.

Example:

I just found a great job and I've been working very hard to succeed in it. However my family disapproves of my career choice. Although I want to respect my family's opinions, how can I reason with them with regard to my new job?

The Fight is advising you not to give up what you love, but also not to completely push your family away. Instead why not sit them down and explain that this is what makes you happy and as a family you want their blessing. Ask them why they are so disapproving? What would they gain from you quitting? You don't necessarily have to completely change their mind, but try to let them understand that it's your choice.

The Erase

Keywords:

Forget, Abandon, Moving On, Giving Up

Tarot Card Coordinate: Eight of Cups

Advice:
In order to move ahead in life, sometimes it is necessary to forget the past, especially if it hinders our ability to move forward. The most you should take from the past is what it's taught you, use what you've learned to your advantage. It's time to abandon what cannot be changed.

Warnings:
The Erase warns us not to fall victim to our problems. Giving up is the easy way out of a situation. And if we give up, we've lost the battle. The Erase could also signify possibility of the end of the relationship because one of the partners is unwilling to compromise and so they decide to give up. If you are that partner, perhaps it's time to think of what's best for the both of you instead of what's best for you. Make sure sure you make these decisions with your partner instead of for them.

Example:

My spouse and I have been going through a rocky time and it seems like they just don't want to try and work it out anymore. Will our relationship end up dying?

Like mentioned above in the warnings, The Erase could mean that your partner wants to give up. They have lost faith in the relationship and doesn't believe it is worth saving. At this rate, if no action is taken, the chances of failure are high. If this card is part of a spread, take a look at the accompanying cards to see what you need to do. For example, if it is accompanied by The Arrow and The Earthy it is advising you to not lose focus and try to express how you feel about the situation.

If the card is used alone it is advising you to make your best judgement, how will leaving or staying with this person affect you? It may or may not be time to move on.

Deck Information

When shopping for Clow Card decks, it's important to keep in mind that there are slight variations from deck to deck, which included color scheme, size, packaging, and the cards included (see below), these variations may also be a tip off to counterfeit and unofficial decks.

One of the main variations that you might come cross are Clow Cards and Sakura Cards*, although they are generally referred to as Clow Cards.

What's the difference, you ask? It has to do with anime, but for purchasing purposes they are essentially the same except for a few physical differences. Clow Cards (on the left) are generally gold and red in color (on the back), while Sakura Cards (on the right) are pink and have Sakura written on the bottom of every card. The insignia on the backs are different too. However, they both have the same designs.

Also, it should be noted that Clow Card decks generally have the 52 main cards, although 55 cards appeared in the series. The three extra cards are The Nothing/The Void, The Hope and The Nameless and are usually not included in most decks (but I will include meanings for them anyways).

*Please note that Sakura Cards (stand alone) are usually unofficially produced decks, but please correct me if I'm wrong. However there is an electronic Sakura Card set and Clow Book.

The Earthy

Keywords:

Connections, communication, compromise

Tarot Card Coordinate: Page of Swords

Advice:

Communication is a very important aspect of any type of relationship. The Earthy wants to remind us that we must communicate with those around us. It's very easy to misinterpret something if the parties involved do not communicate with each other. This could lead to unnecessary confusion and even anger. When faced with a situation, The Earthy advises us to talk it through and come to a compromise. Like The Earthy card, communication, when used right, can be a very powerful tool.

Warnings:
Ignoring a situation will only allow it to fester. The Earthy warns us not to forget that problems will not solve themselves. Running away is not the answer. Instead take the communication advice from The Earthy and try to fix your problems with words. If the situation cannot be fixed, try to come to a conclusion or have closure. If something needs to be said, say it.

Example:

My spouse has becoming very distant lately. He/She doesn't seem interested in me anymore. What can I do about it?

The Earthy recommends that you sit down with your spouse and tell him/her about your concerns with your relationship. She (the card) wants you to honestly tell your loved one that you feel like a rock has become stuck in between you two. Listen to what they have to say and give them honest feedback.

If they that it's nothing, don't try to force it out of them. Instead tell them that if they ever want to talk about something, you'll always be there to listen. Maybe he/she has difficulty expressing their thoughts which in turn can make it feel as if they're distancing themselves from you.

The Dream

Keywords:

Goals, dreams, reality

Tarot Card Coordinate: Temperance

Advice:

It is important to have dreams, and The Dream wants us to always remember that. You should never give up what's important to you, no matter the level of difficulty or because of the negative influence of others. They are your's and should be kept close to the heart. However dreams only stay dreams if action is not taken. You don't have to make drastic changes or decisions to achieve your dreams because chances are, they will not be accomplished immediately, instead take small steps forward one foot at a time. When traveling long distances, if you keep moving you'll eventually reach your destination.

Warnings:
Although having dreams and goals are important, you must not lose touch with reality. This doesn't necessarily mean you should give up, it is merely suggesting that you should accept things that you cannot change.

Example:

Even though So-And-So said they only want to stay friends, will we ever be together?

The Dream is suggesting that although you want to have a relationship, you have to accept that they are not interested at the current time. It doesn't mean you should stop being friends or that they could never ever be interested. Instead of trying to make them interested in you for immediate results, take small steps towards becoming good friends. Although you may never be together, you could always end up being the best of friends.

The Dash

Keywords:

Haste, multi-tasking, moving on, letting go

Tarot Card Coordinate: Six of Swords

Advice:

If you find yourself being pulled back by past events, perhaps The Dash is telling you it's time to let go and move on. You will only harm yourself if you keep dwelling on things long gone. Your life is slowing down because you keep turning back to these problems. Make haste. You need to realize that you can't change the past, but you can change the future. The Dash teaches us to move forward and don't turn back.

Warnings:
If you find yourself overwhelmed, it may seem that you are trying to imitate The Dash by being able to do it all at once. Perhaps sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. If you feel like you're being suffocated, it's time to take each task head on one by one. Focus on one thing at a time, that way you are less likely to overlook mistakes and key details.

Example:

I am starting a new relationship, but I keep thinking about my ex. Why do I do this?

The Dash is suggesting that you can't successfully start this new relationship until you let go of the past. Maybe you were hurt by your ex, and because of this you are blocking yourself off to new possibilities because you are afraid that you might get hurt again. You can't fully appreciate your new love interest until you've learned to let your ex go. Keep in mind that this new person is not your ex and you cannot punish him/her for what your ex has done to you. Until you decide to move on, your new partner will suffer in the relationship.

The Dark

Keywords:

Mystery, confusion, deception, hope

Tarot Card Coordinate: The Moon

Advice:

When faced with a negative situation, The Dark tells us to always remember that it's darkest before the dawn. Your situation may end badly, but that doesn't mean nothing good will come out of it. Take your mistakes to heart and learn from them. This card also represents hope in a time of darkness. Like they say, "You don't lose by going down, you lose by staying down."

Warnings:
When we wander around in the dark, chances are we will get lost or confused. When dealing with a person/problem there may be factors that try to trick you off of the right path. These factors may or may not be obvious, so it is best to walk slow and be cautious. In the dark, things are not always what they seem.

Example:

After a period of conflict and stress, So-And-So decided that they want to make up. Why are they doing this and what should I do?

If someone who has caused trouble in the past and suddenly wants to patch things up, The Dark is telling you to be careful when dealing with them. What motives do they have for fixing things? Do they truly want to make things better, or are they doing it for selfish reasons? If you choose to give them a second chance, don't rush into repairing the relationship right away. Let things move slowly and see how it develops. If they really want to make things better it will show in time. Be weary if they want immediate forgiveness, if they really cared they would not mind taking the time to earn your respect/love back.

The Create

Keywords:

Creativity, thinking out-of-the-box, development, detail

Tarot Card Coordinate: The Magician

Advice:

It's time to get creative. If you're struggling with an issue that doesn't seem to have an answer, The Create wants us to think, well, creatively! Look for answers outside of the obvious and the mundane. You don't have to do this alone, bring a friend. Sometimes two heads are better than one. Take and combine each other's ideas.

Warnings:
Restricted thinking can ultimately create more problems in the end. We become so encircled around one central idea that we miss the things we need. Take the advice from The Create and use it to your advantage.

Example:

There is a job that I am interested in, but it doesn't seem likely that I'll get it. Should I still pursue it anyways?

If it is a position that you really want, The Create says go for it! But it suggests that you take creative steps towards what you want. What do people usually do if they want a job? A good resume? Great references? Experience? After you've done these things, take it a step further. Grab some friends and together think of related activities/actions that you can take.

Let's say you want a career in the health care field, why not volunteer at nursing homes, blood banks, and other health related places. You could get some people together and create cards/gifts for children in the hospital. But only do these things if you really have the heart for it, don't do it to impress your potential employers. Because even if you don't get the job, you can still feel good knowing that you made someone smile.

The Cloud

Keywords:

Isolation, rest, relaxation, withdrawal

Tarot Card Coordinate: The Hermit

Advice:

When faced with a situation, The Cloud recommend that we take time away from what troubles us. Use this time to reflect on the situation from a different perspective. Think about how your choices will not only affect you, but also those involved. Don't be quick to make conclusions, a decision made in haste can have repercussions later on.

The Cloud is a time for rest, if you're feeling stressed out or overwhelmed set aside a few minutes each day to do something you enjoy. Perhaps you could take a warm bubble bath or read a favorite book, whatever it is that makes you happy. These few minutes a day can help regenerate lost energy.

Warnings:
In a negative situation, perhaps you are becoming too isolated. Don't ignore people that are trying to help. Sometimes others can see things that you don't. Listen to what they have to say and take it into consideration.

Example:

I'm experiencing conflict with my family. It seems the more I try to work things out, the worse it gets. What should I do?

The Cloud advises you to take a break from the drama. Let things cool down. The more you dive into it, the more complex it may become. Just walk away for now, take time to yourself to reflect upon the situation.

The Change

Keywords:

Internal/External changes, control, choices

Tarot Card Coordinate: Two of Swords

Advice:

It's quite obvious what The Change suggests. But it doesn't always mean a change of event. It is advising us to change ourselves internally and externally. If you're dealing with a problem, perhaps a change of attitude can shed some new light on the situation. Change is not always a bad thing.

The Change can also indicate choices that need to be made. But before making the decision, it is wise to sit back and carefully think about the choices and consequences before proceeding.

Warnings:
A standstill can sometimes be a dangerous thing, in relationships, life, etc. It may be necessary to make some changes in order to avoid a downfall. What kind of change, I cannot say. Maybe a change of attitude or a change in everyday life. Depending on your situation, it is up to you to decide what's necessary.

Example:

My life feels like it's come to a stand still, it feels like I'm continually going in circles. What can I do?

The Change is suggesting that you try something new. Perhaps you could have an attitude change and try to see your life in a different perspective. Why are you stuck? Maybe you should go out and try something new. The Change suggest that both internal and external changes would be good in getting you out of the rut. Perhaps go out to a place you've never been, meet some new people, or grab a new hobby. Try something that you normally would have never given a chance.

The Bubbles

Keywords:

Change, spontaneity, new experiences, surprises

Tarot Card Coordinate: The Wheel of Fortune

Advice:

The Bubbles indicates a sudden change of events. Real bubbles come and go when they please, one minute they are delicate little orbs and the next they're gone. Almost the same can be said with this card. It is hinting at an immediate change in your life, either positive or negative. If it is a negative change, perhaps it is for the best in the long run. Learn from your mistakes and make the most of what it gave you.

The Bubbles can also be a signal for spontaneity. If you're in a rut in a relationship or in your own life, perhaps it's time to be spontaneous. Try new things, come out of a daily schedule and do things on a whim.

Warnings:
In a negative situation, it could be a sign that you are moving too fast and jumping to conclusions. Your rash decisions are causing overwhelming changes that may hurt you in the end. Calm down and think things through before proceeding.

Example:

I'm having problems with a friend and it seems that our relationship might come to an end. What will happen to us if this does happen?

The Bubbles is hinting that if your relationship ends on a bad card, it could be a catalyst for something better. Things will definitely change, but it opens the doors for new experiences. You may lose this person as a friend. But this could be your chance to meet new people and perhaps gain an even better friend.

The Big

Keywords:

Seeing the big picture, open-ness, clarity, patience

Tarot Card Coordinate: Four of Cups

Advice:
Obviously The Big is advising us to see the bigger (get it? harhar) side of things. When a situation is presenting itself to us, sometimes we can't see the beneficial qualities of the problem. Instead of focusing on immediate results, we must look into into the future and see how our actions and decisions affect us as a whole. Although the immediate results may not be to our liking, it will in turn make things for the better. The Big requires patience from us.

Warnings:
We need to be open to new people and ideas. It is important not to make snap judgements because, as the cliche goes, not everything is always what it seems. If we close ourselves off from our surroundings, we may miss what we need the most. Although seeing the big picture is important, do not neglect the small details that make the big picture whole.

Example:

I just found out that my partner cheated on me. Although the betrayal hurts, I can't seem to let them go. What should I do?

You are extremely emotional in your current state, and The Big wants you to step outside the circle and see the situation from another side From an outsider's point of view, is this man/woman really worth the pain. If they cheated on you, does that seem like they truly care about you? You need to see the problem as a whole. Because you are at the center of the problem, you might have a hard time seeing what is surrounding you. Take a logical approach to the situation and derive your solution from what you've learned.

The Arrow

Keywords:

Straight-forwardness, honesty, focus, direction

Tarot Card Coordinate: The Chariot

Advice:

The Arrow is reminding us not to lose focus. It is telling us to approach our problems head-on in order to approach a resolution. In a relationship setting, it is advising us that honesty is indeed the best policy, we need to be honest to those to whom we are having difficulty with.

Warnings:

When facing a problem, the Arrow is telling us to be aware of our surroundings. Sometimes we may be too focused on one key detail that we will miss important information that are right in front of us. It's time to sit down and take in the the situation as a whole. We must consider the factors surrounding us. We learn in science that for every action there is an equal reaction. Think about decisions carefully before moving on and don't forget to take others into consideration.

Example:

I was a great student in highschool, but upon entering college it seems that my skills have declined. Why am I doing this and how can I change it?

College does strange things to people, especially if you're living away from home. You have so much freedom that sometimes you are by the excitement of college life. The Arrow suggest that you focus on why you came to college in the first place. To learn and further your knowledge and education. Get back on track by putting your studies first and then party your butt off later. College is a place of new experiences, but do not lose sight of what college literally is.

Hello

Welcome to Divine Clow.

Here you'll find a collection of meanings so that you can use Cardcaptor Sakura Clow Cards for divination.

What are Clow Cards, you ask? Are they tarot cards? Clow Cards are not tarot cards, although they can be used in a similar matter. Clow Cards are the creation of CLAMP for the popular Cardcaptor Sakura anime/manga series. The cards that you can buy are replicas of the ones seen in the series. They are difficult to find outside of ebay, but they are well worth the search. If you already know about Cardcaptor Sakura and Clow Cards, I need not say more. If you are unfamiliar with them, I'll be posting more information along the way.

Please keep in mind that the meanings in this blog were created/written by me and are my interpretations of the cards. They are in no way official or set in stone. Please feel free to use them in your readings or adjust them to your own personal tastes. I will also be posting spreads that you can use for your readings, both original and ones I've found online (the creator will be credited).

Each card will have keywords, it's tarot card coordinate, advice, warnings, and an example of how the card can can interpreted in a reading. I cannot possibly list every meaning that a card can hold, so it is up to you on how to decipher what I have presented. If you do a reading and need some help, feel free to leave me a comment and together we can try to see what we can find.

New meanings will be added soon. Since this is a new website, it will be a while before all of the meanings are up. Thanks for your patience.

If you decide to use these meanings on your own website, please don't forget to credit me (ie, link back please!).

If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to leave a comment.

For more information about Cardcaptor Sakura and Clow Cards, please visit the following websites:
Dreaming
Kawaii Sakura Shrine

I hope you enjoy your stay!

Credits: Clow Card images were borrowed from Lelola and Kawaii Sakura Shrine
